EVENT!!!!! CHAPTER 1!!!

After the devastating war of 2012, the newly established Midnight Academy was able to enjoy its first year of peace in 2013. Although the fighting had ravaged much of the world, strangely, the destruction ultimately led to peace; none of the survivors were left in any shape to continue. In that year, the Academy was like any other school; there were no nonhumans among the student body, and the classes remained standard. The priest Izaki, realizing that his views were going unnoticed in the wider world, decided instead to focus on his responsibilities as the Academy's principal. So far, the students were entirely unaware of his true age; they merely saw him as unusually young for his position. In truth, it was due to the rituals that bound him to the school; as it was young and newly formed, so too was he. The months passed without incident; the students enjoyed a peaceful vacation in the summer of 2014, unaware of the events to come.

By the end of summer vacation, as the students returned for another year, the first change happened. Blinding light shone through a crack in the heavens, as though the sky had been torn open. Winged creatures descended from the hole in the world, bright humanoids with an air of harmony and grace. The other races had remained neutral during the war, and most had even retreated to their own realms; many of the students recognized the angels for what they were, but their sudden appearance came as a shock. When approached, however, Principal Izaki would only respond with a cryptic statement that the time had come; for what, he did not specify—not quite yet.

Soon enough, through Izaki's power, glowing blue inscriptions formed on the walls, encasing the Academy in a great barrier. By the principal's decree, the humans were to work with these angelic strangers and accept them into the school; furthermore, they were to do the same with the other magical races, until each terrace had a representative party at Midnight Academy. Those of the academy were soon told more about the history of the war; instead of defusing tensions, however, it led the humans to violence, out of resentment for the angels' inaction as their world was destroyed.

Principal Izaki was forced to end the fighting, thankfully before anyone was hurt; following the near-incident, though, the humans and the angels were able to maintain an uneasy truce. Eventually, they came to realize that the nonhumans simply wanted to learn, much as they did. That knowledge was added to by the formation of a new curriculum—one that provided training in combat skills and magic in addition to some of the core classes. To give the humans a means of protecting themselves even in the presence of those with magical powers, the principal opened classes for several styles of self-defense: Unarmed fighting styles such as karate and aikido; weapon styles such as kendo, kyudo, and bojutsu; and the highly varied survival skills of ninjutsu. New nonhuman teachers were added to the staff roster, and another year eased the academy into what seemed to be the peace Izaki wished for.

On the cold night of December 19, 2015, however, a second rift in the sky will appear, from which seven more winged beings emerge. Unlike the previous angels, their wings are darkened, their presence alien and chaotic instead; these are the Seven SInners, cursed by their vices and empowered by chaos. The discord in them grants them greater free will and additional power, but taints their still-present angelic connection to order. Led by Superbia, bearer of the sin of Pride, the seven believe that angels should be held apart from other, 'lesser' races; they have enrolled as regular students, but their true aim is to turn the other angels against the humans and seize control. However, their conviction is not perfect; the same inner chaos that gives them strength makes them changeable. Perhaps some of them can be persuaded to see another point of view, changing allegiances or simply abandoning the fight... or even, potentially, redeeming themselves.

Still, only time will tell. It is up to you—the students and teachers of Midnight Academy—to preserve Izaki's dream, be it through force or persuasion.

—————The Seven Sinners—————

Changed by their fall from grace, these corrupted angels have been empowered in ways that reflect their chief vice.

Luxuria (Lust)
More than simple sexual urges, the sin of Lust represents an excessive desire for anything - even knowledge or power. This newest of the Fallen is ordinarily assumed to be the weakest—and, strangely, has barely any interest in "mere" carnal pleasure.

Ability: Guilty Love - This ability allows Lust to inflame people's passions and desires—often to the point of dangerous obsession. It usually brings forth the strongest passion in the affected, be it power or knowledge or physical pleasure. Those afflicted have their judgment impaired, making them less effective in combat and decision-making; after five posts this leads to an almost single-minded obsession with pursuing their greatest desire.

Weakness: The magical field has a maximum range of fifty meters; between twenty-five and fifty meters, its effects are roughly half as potent. Moving out of range causes the effects to wear off in three posts.

Gula (Gluttony)
Gluttony is characterized by overindulgence and wastefulness—excessive consumption of food and resources that takes away from others. This Fallen Angel is wracked by eternal hunger and will do nearly anything to stave it off for another day.

Ability: The Hunger - Gluttony's ability is based in attempting to spread her insatiable condition to others; her touch can burn calories at an alarming rate as soon as it comes into contact with bare skin, eventually leaving the afflicted ravenously hungry. Prolonged contact of at least three posts will amplify the effects of starvation, causing weight loss and fatigue that worsens over time. Even close proximity to Gluttony, about twenty-five meters, has the same effect—albeit at half the rate, reaching its peak at six posts. Between twenty-five and fifty meters, the effect takes nine posts to achieve full potency. She can, however, disable the ranged effect.

Weakness: Gluttony still suffers from the same effect, although she is unable to die from it, and spreading her hunger temporarily relieves her somewhat as she "consumes" the fat burned in others. This makes her slower than average and forces her to constantly eat; she can digest nearly anything, regardless of taste or texture—all except magical artifacts.

Avaritia (Greed)
Greed represents an urge to possess material wealth and influence, no matter the cost to others. This member of the Fallen sees everything as profit and loss, particularly in terms of his own gain—even, perhaps, his allegiances.
Ability: Dance of Gold - Greed can convert objects—and organisms—into valuable substances at will; inorganic material is converted to gold, while organic material becomes petroleum—in other words, black gold. He can also influence both substances, controlling the flow of crude oil and causing gold to behave almost like liquid metal.

Weakness: Depending on the size of an object and the length of contact, conversion may take several posts to finish, which requires him to hold on for the duration; incomplete transformations revert to normal after up to three posts, and roughly retain the solidity of the original substance. Conversion is limited to physical contact, and controlling either substance renders him immobile; his control weakens after fifty meters and ends at a hundred. He can only use this power every other post.


Acedia (Sloth)
Sloth manifests not only in mere physical laziness, but also in spiritual weakness—moral inaction, despair, and apathy.  What motivates this Fallen to fight at all when he could be resting is a mystery.

Ability: Poppy Tears - Using a combination of magic and chemistry, Sloth is capable of producing a thick, smoke-like mist. Its composition allows it to affect the brain even through inhalation. Its effects kick in after one post, causing the affected to feel relaxed, giddy, and slightly numb. After five additional posts, however, the initial high wears off, giving way to apathy and depression. To prolong the effect, the magic in the mist prevents overdoses.

Weakness: The mist can be cleared away using wind or water; left alone, it will dissipate in three posts. If not inhaled, it does nothing. In the initial stage, effects wear off after three posts of no exposure; the later stage takes four. Sloth can only produce the mist for eight posts at a time, with four posts in between.

Ira (Wrath)
Associated with anger and vengeance, Wrath is based in the pursuit of justice, twisted and taken to destructive excess. This Fallen Angel was once just, but became a punisher instead of a protector.

Ability: Grudge - Wrath's anger is embodied by a powerful wraith, bound to him with magic. It hides in a small golden ring on his left hand, the image of a flaming sword engraved on the outside; he believes the symbol to represent the blade used to guard the gates of Eden, regardless of the ring's true properties. Occasionally, when he takes damage, the wraith emerges—a shrieking, formless mass of some glowing red substance—and delivers a vicious counter-attack. The counter is triggered every five posts, including ones not made by Wrath; it deals damage based on the number of attacks he has sustained in the interval, which resets on a successful hit. The wraith is a melee attacker, but can move up to twenty-five meters away to strike ranged opponents.

Weakness: Over time, Wrath has grown so dependent on the wraith's disproportionately powerful retribution that his own combat skills have atrophied; personally, he is a weak fighter, and his regular attacks are not especially effective. If separated from the ring, he loses the wraith, and he is incapable of controlling it normally.

Invidia (Envy)
Those who harbor Envy are dismayed by others' gain—because they covet it for themselves. Who knows why this Fallen consents to the commands of Pride, or to the lot of a villain—at least, for now?

Ability: Identity Theft - By studying people and their techniques, Envy can copy their forms and powers in an attempt to take them for his own use. After witnessing an ability in action, he can copy it, albeit in a degraded form; if he comes into contact with the effect, or touches the user while the ability is in use, the copy is fully powered.

Weakness: Despite his attempts, Envy can never keep copied power for himself; he can only imitate one thing at a time, and after five posts—seven for full copies—he loses whatever abilities he has taken. Cosmetic changes alone last up to ten posts. There is a four post delay between copying attempts.

Superbia (Pride)
Pride is the first and greatest of the Deadly Sins, and the source of all the others; it manifests in love for the self at the expense of all others. The Fallen Angel of Pride leads the other Sinners against what he believes to be the 'inferior' races.

Ability: Mirror of Narcissus - Pride can summon magical mirrors that reflect an individual in a highly idealized version of themselves. They whisper constant promises, claiming to give the person what he or she sees if their surfaces are touched... but in reality, touching a mirror leads to being sucked in, freeing a powerful and twisted spirit that escapes disguised in the trapped individual's form. Each spirit released this way strengthens Pride; he brings several NPCs with him, already trapped and feeding his power.

Weakness: The mirror-creatures are forced to carry their mirrors wherever they go, which may give them away; shattering a mirror will release the trapped person and destroy the creature. Somehow defeating Pride directly shatters all the mirrors.
